Cancer’s effects can be devastating not just to the patient, but to loved ones, as well. Each year, about 31,000 men die from prostate cancer. Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men 15 to 35 years old. And the American Cancer Society estimates that this year, there will be approximately 53,000 new cases of bladder cancer, from which almost 12,000 people will die, making it the 12th-leading cause of cancer death. Men are affected three times more frequently by bladder cancer than women.

For the various forms of urological cancer, which includes prostate, kidney, bladder, urethral and testicular cancer, Lubbock Urology uses:

  • Lasers – For effective treatment of bladder cancer.
  • Nerve-sparing prostate surgery – A very effective, traditional, time-tested method.
  • Laparoscopic prostatectomy and laparoscopic lymph node dissection for staging – An innovative, minimally invasive approach.
  • Cryotherapy – Probes placed in the kidneys and prostate are frozen and are effective in killing the cancerous cells without harming the surrounding organs.
  • Brachytherapy – An ultrasound procedure that places radiated pellets at the prostate, away from surrounding tissues. This effective therapy is performed on an outpatient basis.
